Before you buy or sell a used GTX 1080
Faster 8GB GDDR5X memory sets the GTX 1080 apart from the GDDR5-based GTX 1070 Ti and the 11GB GTX 1080 Ti, both separate parts. Late-2017 partner editions raised memory speed from 10 Gbps to 11 Gbps, so check the exact sub-model.
Blower-style 180W Founders Edition cards take one 8-pin PCIe plug, while custom boards often need two connectors. On early EVGA ACX 3.0 cards, check that the VRM thermal pad fix was applied.
